Dr. Kate Tully is an Associate Professor of Agroecology at the University of Maryland. She was the Farm Manager at the Columbia Heights Green for seven years before helping found Farm the District.
Chris Wingate is a geographer at the US Census and an avid gardener. He co-founded Farm the District with Kate in 2022. He comes from a long line of farmers & co-owns the family farm in Peru.
Riley has a history of political organizing and community-building projects. For his wage job he works as a grant writer for local nonprofits at Oryx Solutions. At other times, Riley is Vice President of the U Street Neighborhood Association; a founding member of ReDelicious, DC’s new cooperative focused on food waste reduction & citizen science; and exasperated cat dad. Riley is on a lifelong quest to learn hard skills after a liberal arts education in political science & environmental studies.
Susan is a dynamic marketer, community builder and team leader with a passion for the outdoors, wellness and storytelling. She’s spent the past 15 years creating award-winning campaigns for partners ranging from Sony Music to National Geographic and is committed to using her culture marketing expertise for good. With recent yoga teaching and wilderness first aid certifications, she’s excited to see you on the trails, on the mat or in the garden!
